FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What, in a nutshell, is CSA? It stands for Community Supported Agriculture, meaning that you, the community, directly support us, your farmers. It works much like a subscription where you pay a set fee up front (or in multiple installments) and then you receive a weekly delivery of produce of our choosing for the defined terms of the season.

How do I sign up? You can sign up on our website or print out a registration form and mail it to the farm with your first payment.

How can I pay for my share? We accept PayPal, checks, cash, and EBT. Contact us about how to go about using EBT.

Do you accept barter? We are open to it. Let us know what you have to offer!

Do you send bills? We do not send bills, as we'd much rather be out in the field than in the office! We will send out occasional reminders if payments fall too behind. Please be aware of your own payment schedule. Setting up installment through PayPal or your bank makes it easier.

How do I access my online account to check my balance, make payments, or check my pick up site details? Click on the appropriate link at the top of  the CSA sign up page.

Can I sign up after the first delivery has started? Will the price differ? Yes you can. We will pro-rate the cost of your share to reflect the deliveries you missed.

What share size would best fit my household? A large share is intended for a household of 4 and a small share is meant for singles or couples. However, we all have vastly different eating habits. Factors you should consider when choosing a share size include whether or not you eat meat, if there are picky eaters in your household, how often you cook, whether or not you garden, etc. Check out our photo gallery to view large share boxes from previous seasons. Small shares contain a little more than half the amounts.

What if I don’t like some of the veggies you grow? Will you customize boxes? To keep the chaos and confusion down to a dull roar, we pack all the boxes the same. We used to provide a barter box at each pick up site, but due to Covid-19, we don’t feel like that is a safe option. We may revisit that at a later time. We encourage you to try every vegetable at least once, even if you think you hate it. Freshly harvested produce is so different than grocery store stuff.

Can I order additional veggies to be delivered with my share? If so, how do I place an order? Yes, you can order extra produce. Send us an email at least 48 hours before your desired delivery day. Include your pick up day and location. We will leave an invoice with your order and you can mail a check.

Do you offer fruit, flowers, eggs,  meat, or other “non-vegetable” products? No. We only offer things we grow ourselves. We are happy to make suggestions where to find those other items. Just ask!

Can I change my pick up location part way through the season? Yes. Send us an email with your full name, current pick up location the newly requested pick up location. Occasional switches are okay, just don't do it excessively.

What if I know in advance that I cannot pick up my share? There are several options.   1.) Have a friend/family member/co-worker pick up your share. 2.) Request a different pick up day for that week. 3.) Request a double box the next week. 4.) Request farmers market credit for the missed week. 5.) Ask us not to pack a box for you. Any of these requests should be done at least 48 hours in advance. We do not offer monetary refunds.

What if I forget to pick up my share? The site hosts are pretty good about calling folks that have forgotten to pick up their share. You can work it out with them as to when you can go retrieve it.

What is your cancellation/refund policy? Generally speaking, we do not offer refunds, but sometimes life throws some curveballs. If you find your circumstance has changed (new job in another town, medical issues, etc.) let us know and we can work with you.

Are there volunteer opportunities? While we would love to have members of the greater community pitch in and see what the farm is all about, it can be challenging to plug folks in. Occasionally we have big jobs we need to tackle and having more hands is a life-saver. Certainly let us know if you are interested in volunteering and we will be in touch if there is an opportunity.

Can I visit the farm? Yes, though please check in first. We love the idea of our CSA members and others to see the farm and meet the farmers. That being said, we are VERY busy and have a lot to manage. If you would like to schedule a visit, send us an email and we can figure out a day and time that works. Depending on how busy we are we can give you a quick tour and from there you can leisurely walk around the fields, check out greenhouses, have a picnic, or go to the river. Mon-Fri between 8-3 is ideal.
